Load of Crap

Load of Crap

It is what it is.

It’s irritating.  Overused.  And has no relevant meaning.

I cringe when reading it.  Shudder, when I hear it.

Is it meant to brag?  A proud boast, maybe?

Whatever its purpose, I think it’s a load of crap.

What am I talking about?

I’m referring to the nonsensical mantra used by some fellow MSers…

I shake my head.

Really?

REALLY?…like the rest of us are just laying on our backs letting MS do its thang with our brain & body?  Ravaging our insides.  Pillaging our lives.  While you beat MS with this little phrase?

Really?  I don’t think so.

Let me be the first to admit, I’ve had multiple sclerosis for 26 years now…and it has me by the you know whats.

I work hard to keep MS at arm’s length.  Very hard.  Each day.  But still it seems futile.  Like maybe I’m wasting my time.  Then, I read your declaration and begin to think what am I doing so wrong?  Or, wonder what you are doing that is so right.

I think about others with more progressive MS who are in quite different situations.  What must they think?  Did they do something wrong?

I don’t see people with other ailments being so brash to admit their success…

Or cancer? COPD?

My point being it’s great you are doing so well, but don’t compare your MS to anyone else.

We are all different.  So quietly keep your mantra to yourself.

Please.

Okay, I’ll share mine with you just this once…

True words.

P.S. Here’s one more…

I’m truly sorry.

Love your mantra! Interesting, but this blog has also been described using your words “correct bs.”

  3. Good to hear I am not the only one who doesn’t like the mantra “I have MS but it doesn’t have me.” I agree it is a load of crap. MS has HAD ME for almost 30 years! When people ask me how I am doing, I tell them “I am existing”.
My personal mantra is “MS sucks, then you die”!

    1. Margaret,
