My Odd Sock Vacation Photos!

My Odd Sock Vacation Photos!

Cheers mate!
Cheers mate!

My Odd Sock is excited to share some candid photographs of my recent trip to the U.K!

Visiting a castle has always been on my bucket list.  And what better place to tour one–than in jolly ‘ol England!

(Castles are few and far between here in Ohio!)

So I strapped on a fanny pack (What a fashion loser!) and traveled to Hadleigh Castle in Essex, England.

Hadleigh Castle was built in 1232 by a chap named Hubert de Burgh, under the reign of Henry III.

This place goes WAY back, so I was thrilled to see it in person!

Wow, my adventure begins!
Wow, my adventure begins!

Here I am just outside.

This is exciting!  Always wanted to see a real castle!

I shouted “Hear ye, hear ye, lower the drawbridge so that I may enter Hadleigh Castle!”

Not listening to the guide.
Not listening to the guide.

Hey, when the tour guide tells you to stand back, don’t ask why–just do it!

That's me on the far right.
That's me on the far right.

Here I am meeting the “Lords” of Hadleigh Castle.

Peek-A-Boo!
Peek-A-Boo!

My Odd Sock looking out one of the windows.

(Man, this place needs drapes!)

My Odd Sock being bad.
My Odd Sock being bad.

That’s me getting “locked” in the dungeon.

OK guys, you can let me out.

The rats in there were the size of dingos!

Anybody got a band-aid?
Anybody got a band-aid?

A little horseplay with the guards.

(Don’t worry—it was only a flesh wound!)

Stay off it, you idiot!
Stay off it, you idiot!

Back outside the castle.

I found this cool, old cannon!

(I didn’t see the sign warning “Do not Climb.)

Holy crap!
Holy crap!

Getting shot through the air.

Oh well, accidents happen!

(Sparing no expense with the speciat effects!)

A moat--with aligators!
A moat--with aligators!

Checking out the moat.

They had real gators in there!

Not fun.
Not fun.

These suckers could jump!

And they were hungry too!

Here boy--Here boy...Speak!
Here boy--Here boy...Speak!

Another lesson learned.

NEVER play with a fire-breathing dragon!

My visit is over.
My visit is over.

It’s been one helluva day.

I’ve been crushed, bitten, burned, stabbed & shot, but at least I was able to finally visit a castle!

Hope you have enjoyed my vacation photos as much as I have enjoyed sharing them with you!

May our travels continue!

Hadleigh Castle

P.S.  Here is a picture of the real Hadleigh Castle.

Today, it is just ruins.

But imagine what it once was…and the history it holds!
