Your Handy Dandy AFO

 

If you have multiple sclerosis, and have MS-related foot drop, you probably already own an AFO.

AFO stands for Associated Foot Oreopie or something like that (Don’t quote me) and one is worn on the lower leg to help “pick-up” your foot when walking.

Beneficial as the AFO can be, you can’t wear one ALL THE TIME.

So how can an AFO help you during the rest of the day?

SHOWER CADDY:

My AFO helps me each morning get spiffy-clean by holding the soap & shampoo.

 

 

 

 

AIR FRESHENER HOLDER

The AFO keeps the bathroom smelling great as an air freshener holder!

 

 

 

 

POOPER SCOOPER

Time for some yard work!

I use the AFO to pick-up doggie-do.

(I don’t even have a dog!)

 

 

 

 

GARDENING TOOL

Seems there is always weeds to pull & beds to edge.  The AFO works well for both.

( I have been called a “gardening tool” myself!)

 

 

 

 

PAINT SCRAPER

Who needs a putty knife when you got an AFO?

Got to get this scraped & painted before the snow flies!

 

 

 

 

DRINK HOLDER

Nothing beats an ice-cold beverage after doing chores.

The AFO holds my drink while I enjoy!

 

 

 

 

TONGUE DEPRESSOR

My throat has been sore lately, better check it out.

Always remember to use the AFO as a tongue depressor BEFORE use as a pooper scooper.

 

 

 

 

EGG FLIPPER

The AFO is a sweet kitchen gadget as well.

Here I’m making eggs for breakfast!

 

 

 

 

CHEESE SLICER

Who wants some cheese on their eggs?

 

 

 

 

LAP DESK

Flip the AFO around the other way and it becomes a nice lap desk to hold my book.

(All this reading, where are the pictures?  I like books with pictures, damnit!)

 

 

 

 

HEAD REST

Finally, because we as MSers take a snooze now & again…the AFO wore on the arm makes a convenient head rest.

(And drool resistant too!)

 

 

As you can see, an AFO helps with much more than just walking.

It truly IS multi-purpose!
